Nathan Lewis

-Physical Therapist

As a lifelong resident of Southern Oregon, Nathan is deeply invested in his community’s health and wellbeing. Nathan recognizes that people are healthier when active, and more motivated for activity when access to the outdoors is readily available. He is committed to the ecological health of this unique bioregion and understands the importance of building a more symbiotic relationship between a land and its inhabitants. Nathan volunteers on the Ashland Forest Lands Commission in effort to participate in the responsible stewardship of the Ashland Watershed. Nathan recognizes that physical therapy should be implemented based on the individualized needs of each patient and that no two interventions will be the same. He thrives in the creativity of helping patients work to reduce impairments and reach their goals. Nathan has worked with patients of all ages and his clinical experience includes acute care, pediatrics and most extensively, outpatient orthopedics.

Nathan has a unique perspective on mobility. After graduating from Ashland High School he embarked on a career in Wildland Fire Suppression serving as a Forest Service Hotshot crew member. The physical nature and intense demands placed on his body helped to shape his understanding of bio-mechanics and physiological adaptations within each person. Nathan received his Bachelor of Science in pre-physical therapy at Southern Oregon University and went on to earn his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Chapman University.

Nathan is an enthusiastic outdoorsman, engaging in seasonal recreation with great pleasure. Nathan  enjoys rafting, trail-running, rock climbing and backpacking and revels in the fact that he can engage in all these pursuits within the close proximity of his home. Nathan also participates in community leagues playing soccer and ultimate frisbee and is a regular participant in various yoga and fitness classes. Nathan, his wife Fawn, and their son, Thielsen, are elated to call the Rogue Valley their home.

“The shortest and surest way to live with honor in the world is to be in reality what we would appear to be; all human virtues increase and strengthen themselves by the practice and experience of them.”
